American Revolution
Pennsylvania Militia Draft Document Dated 1782

Drafting A Recruit Into The Pennsylvania Militia.
A fascinating manuscript document, 6.75” x 9”, laid down, April 4, 1782, Very Good. Being an order addressed to John H. Schenck of Harley [Pennsylvania] requiring Schenck to "raise and deliver an able bodied man to be duly equipped according to law." The main section of the document lists the bounties that might be due the recruiter, ranging from 200 to 600 acres of "unappropriated land," depending on length of service. Some light staining, wear at folds, with a couple of words difficult to read as a result, still quite good. Signed by "Johannis Jansen, Lt. Col." One listed "stint" consists of "three years or during the war in the Continental Servise [sic]." A great relic with interesting, historical content.
