<b>1800 ShipÕs Crew Agreement For The 'Fair America.'</b>
16.5' x 13', Fine. On the front is a printed copy of 'An Act for the Government and Regulation Of Seamen in the MerchantsÕ Service,' passed into law in 1790 and signed in print by George Washington. On the other side are the 'Articles of Agreement Between the Master and Mariners of the Brigantine Fair America of Philadelphia. Azel. Howard is Master, now bound for one or more ports in the West Indies and back to Philadelphia.' Signed by 23 men of various ranks from common seamen up to Master. The various job skills listed include cook, landman, boy and others. Next to each personÕs name and title is the amount of pay and any advance received, along with monthly wage listings.
