<b>American Revolution</b><hr><b>June 1, 1778, REVOLUTIONARY WAR-DATE Agreement, Sandwich, MA, 8” x 7.75”, Very Fine.</b>
Being a covenant between “John Smith of Sandwich in the County of Barnstable & State of Massachusetts Bay Gentlm. as administrator on the Estate of Ambrose Fish... and William Fish... yeoman as a Creditor & one of the Heirs to Said Estate.” The two parties, having “sundry controversies” between them, agree to submit to the arbitration of Joshua Hall, Paul Jones, and Ebenezer Allen, all yeomen of Sandwich, and to abide by their decision. The document is witnessed by Simeon Smith and Thos. Smith Jr. and signed by John Smith and William Fish. The seals of both men are partially extant, with a slight tear in Smith’s. This is an attractive document, suitable for framing. Also, a list of 18 names from colonial Massachusetts, including members of the Fish, Hamlen, and Chadwick families, among others. 8” x 7.75”, in brown ink, uneven bottom, age toning. (2 items)
