JULES CHERET (1836-1932)
309. Palace Theatre/La FÈe Cocotte. 1881.

Even if you’re a total and utter ChÈret-head, you have to admit that the “ChÈrettes” are a bit lacking in sensuousness. Don’t get me wrong, they seem like pleasant enough gals, but they certainly don’t pack a whole lot in the va-va-va-voom department. That certainly wouldn’t be the case in this promotion for “The Fairy Chick,” a pantomime hatching nightly at the Palace Theater. And if the title sprite resembled the poster pixie in the least, there’s no doubt she left the gents crowing in the aisles for more.
