Colonial America
1781 Imprint, “Resolves of the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,” Printed by Nathaniel Willis, Boston, Choice Very Fine.
13.75” x 8.75,” pages 4-72. Covers resolutions of Massachusetts between May 31, 1781 to July 6, 1781. Wonderful type. Providing for the “defence and security of Rhode-Island, and the fleet in the harbour of Newport,” (p. 17); numerous resolves providing for payment of soldiers; a resolve “requesting the Governor to write to his Excellency General Washington, that the General Court expect a return of the cannon, mortars and powder, as soon as the present campaign is over,” (p. 19); and a “grant of one hundred and fifty pounds to Rev. Edward Wigglesworth, Professor of Divinity of Harvard-College, for his services to the 1st June last...” (p. 67); for example. There are some real gems here! Nicely toned pages with occasional foxing, and worn and chipped corners and page edges.
