Printed by Francis Childs and John Swaine, 144 pages, Philadelphia, 1794, Very Fine. Original covers have been replaced. Title page has soiling and a faint stain to lower portion, which also lightly affects lower right corner of about eight pages. This was the personal property of Jasper Yeates, who signed his name, 'J. Yeates' on the title page. Yeates served on the Lancaster County committee of safety, of which he became chairman in 1776. He was a member of the convention that ratified the constitution of the United States. From 1791 until his death in 1817, he served as an associate justice of the supreme court of Pennsylvania. In 1794, President Washington appointed him a commissioner to help settle the whiskey rebellion.
