<b>July 23, 1759, Colonial Military Document, Boston, Massachusetts Bay, Choice Very Fine.</b>
Manuscript Document Signed, “John Larrabee,” on watermarked, fine-laid paper, 4-page folio, 12” x 7.5”. Written in an attractive hand, with many large, fancy letters, being a petition from the Commander of Castle William for funds to buy wood for the garrison. In part: “To his Excellency Thomas Pownall Esqr, Captain General and Governour in Chief of his Majestys Province of the Massachusetts Bay and the Honorable Council ... that this being a season of the year for laying in a usual quantity of wood for use of his Majestys Castle William & that it may be purchased much cheaper now than in the fall of the year ... prays there may be provision made for the payment of what wood he may contract for -- for the use of the aforesaid garrison...” Thin reinforcing strip at left edge, away from writing. Folds, and minor edge splits repaired with tape on verso.
