Autograph Note Signed in the text, 'Mr. Trumbull requests Mr. Todd will accept the Prints which accompany this [prints not present],' no date, no place, 2.5' x 5', Extremely Fine. Boldly written in dark brown ink. Minor ink erosion in 'will' and uneven right margin. Trumbull (1756-1843) served as aide to Washington, Gates, and Sullivan. He studied in London under Benjamin West, under whose tutelage he painted the 'Battle of BunkerÕs Hill' and the 'Death of General Montgomery in the Attack of Quebec.' Many of his paintings had Revolutionary War subjects and George Washington sat for him a number of times. He also painted the four Revolutionary War mural scenes which still decorate the Rotunda of the Capitol Building.
