It’s interesting to compare the two Bottlick Orion radio designs that have come our way. The first (see PAI-XXXIII, 229) presented the viewer with a cavalcade of humanity, its united sound wave contingency prepared to fill the listener’s ears with a myriad of global options. Here, the artist makes a complete 180-degree turn, laying out in 3-sheets a three-pronged feature-free promotional assault, the Futuristic trio focusing their attention on the technical–rather than the aural–excellence of the Hungarian product. The Hungarian-produced radio sold exceptionally well in the Swedish market and was a product of the Budapest-based Orion-Tungsram company (oddly enough, we had the opportunity to present a Tungsram tube before we got our hands on the radio it served–see PAI-XXIX, 414). Bottlik, a Hungarian artist, took part in the 1910 Paris’ Exposition des Artistes Independents and Exposition des Humoristes. Away from his commercial graphics, he specialized in portraits of women and nudes.
