LABYRINTH (1986) - Goblin ''Dogsthorpe'' Body and Monkeyface Test Head

A Dogsthorpe goblin body and Monkeyface test head from Jim Henson's musical fantasy Labyrinth. After kidnapping baby Toby (Toby Froud), the Goblin King Jareth (David Bowie) celebrated his arrival by singing "Magic Dance" with his goblin subjects.

The goblin puppet body comprises a metal-and-wood armature, which forms a hollow torso and articulated legs. It is covered with black nylon and is filled with expanded polystyrene beans. A production label sewn to the body reads "Dogsthorpe", the name of the goblin character, handwritten in blue pen. This one-eyed Dogsthorpe goblin can be seen cackling behind Toby in Jareths lair.

The Monkeyface test head is made of foam latex with resin eyes (by Cantor and Nissel) and teeth, and black hair glued to the forehead. A black nylon sleeve is attached to the back of the head to disguise the performer's arm. The head exhibits minor foam disintegration and the metal components on the body display areas of rust from age. Dimensions (body): 34 cm x 25 cm x 9 cm (13 1/2" x 10" x 3 1/2")
