ANONYMOUS
216. Chaplin Revue. ca. 1952.
79 x 76 3/8 in./200.6 x 194 cm
Cond B+/Slight tears at folds.
A trilogy of silent shorts–compiled by none other than The Little Tramp himself–make up "The Chaplin Revue,” promoted here in a 6-sheet billboard format. A representative from each film is used as component visual shorthand–Chaplin as chaplain from "The Pilgrim” at left and as the daydreaming doughboy from "Shoulder Arms” at right, with the heroic mutt from "A Dog’s Life” seen center, all gathered about a flat black caricature that is unmistakably Charlie.
