There would appear to be some sort of rather restrained country lane chase transpiring in this anonymous promotion for the French release of "Brothers Under The Skin,” a morality tale about shaky, hastily-entered Jazz Age marriages getting out of hand. On the surface it sounds rather preachy, but thanks to director E. Mason Harper’s light touch, it turned out to be a rather clever little film, filled with humor and likable characters. In brief, "Two Wills”–as in "willpower,” not "last testament”–as it was re-titled for the French, tells the story of two tyrannically hen-pecked husbands–one a mail room clerk, one the company’s vice-president–who stand up for themselves and live happily ever after. Critics and audiences pretty much agreed that Miss Chadwick, as the clerk’s spouse, put in the film’s best performance as a thoroughly modern spendthrift and general nag. A native New Yorker who became one of the best known "cover girls’ of the ‘20s, she came to the world of silent films in 1917 courtesy of Sam Goldwyn. Unfortunately, sound was not kind to her and she was out of the movie biz by 1934.
