Lot 20 - 1826 Coronet Head Cent N7 R1 NGC MS63 BN
1826 Coronet Head Cent. Newcomb-7. Rarity-1. Frosty light golden olive brown and tan with delicate overtones of bluish steel. The surfaces are lustrous and attractive, free of any spots, stains, or notable contact marks. There is the barest hint of rub on the cheek, a struck-through line hidden in the hairbun (caused by a short piece of wire stuck on the die), and a tiny planchet flake at the top of the second S in STATES, as struck. Sharply struck E-MDS with strong die clashmarks (created when dies strike together without a planchet between them) on both sides, and these clashmarks are rotated about 30 degrees clockwise relative to the die orientation. A neat strike error that's noted in the Wright book on Middle Date Cents. EAC grade MS60. (#1645)
