Autographs
“Annie Oakley” Signed Cabinet Photograph

ANNIE OAKLEY, Legendary Markswoman; Starred in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
Cabinet Photograph Signed, “Compliments of Annie Oakley” on the verso, no date, no place, 6.5” x 4.25”, Extremely Fine. Imprint of Gray, Boston on lower mount. A lovely chest-up image of Miss Oakley as a young woman, dressed in white, with a cameo at her neck. A few tiny imperfections, including a speck at the corner of Miss Oakley’s right eye. Tape remnants around the edges of verso can be matted out and framed to show the bold signature. A great display piece.

Annie’s unerring marksmanship and girlish charm made her one of the feature attractions of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show from 1885-1902. In one contest, she broke 943 out of 1000 glass balls; in a single day, she made a record of 4772 out of 5,000. She was popular in Europe as well as the U.S., and once shot a cigarette from the lips of the German Crown Prince (later Wilhelm II). Annie had no children herself, but supported and educated 18 orphan girls.
