Autographs
Governor Sir Henry Moore Grants Land Along the Border Between the “Six Nations” and New York

SIR HENRY MOORE. Colonial Governor of New York during the Stamp Act crisis.
Document Signed, as Governor, 2 pages, recto and verso, 8” by 13”, Fort George, City of New York, March 15, 1769; with wafer seal intact, the left margin uneven, the folds a tad fragile, but still Very Fine overall. Here Moore directs Alexander Colden, the Surveyor General General of the Province of New York, to survey and lay out for one John Watts some three thousand acres on the south side of the “Mohawks River” in the County of Albany. This would be west of Cosby’s Manor, and running along the southern border of “the line established by the late Treaty with the Indians as the boundary between the Indians of the Six nations and the Province of New York.” Co-signed by Alexander Colden.
