TWISTER (1996) - Light-up "Dorothy" Sensor Ball

A light-up "Dorothy" sensor ball from Jan de Bont's disaster film Twister. Storm chasers Bill (Bill Paxton) and Jo Harding (Helen Hunt), used an invention named Dorothy, which was filled with sensor balls to gather insights on the inner workings of devastating tornadoes.

This sensor ball comprises a plastic shell of two halves - one side of which transparent, the other is painted in a silver finish - held together by two metal screws. The interior contains a circuit board, an LED bulb, a battery and a rubber-coated wire, which protrudes from a small hole in the clear plastic half. A switch is located at the seam of the two halves, which, when flicked, operates the LED, causing it to flash red. The lot exhibits some wear to the silver paint from production use. Dimensions: 5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm (2" x 2" x 2")

Contains electronics; see electronics notice in the Buyer's Guide.
