SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE (1987)/LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (1986) - Miniature Model Statue of Liberty and Pair of Hand-drawn Production Designs

A miniature model Statue of Liberty and a pair of production designs from the production of Frank Oz's sci-fi musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors, and Sidney J. Furie's superhero sequel Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. In the latter movie, Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow) stole the Statue of Liberty and attempted to destroy it during his first fight with Superman (Christopher Reeve). The statue was originally designed and sculpted for a scene in Little Shop of Horrors, in which the ever-growing plant Audrey II climbed the statue as she took over New York City. However, the scene was cut and the statue was revamped and repurposed for Superman IV.

The statue was designed by Little Shop of Horrors art director Stephen Spence and was sculpted by Peter Voysey. The body is made primarily of fibreglass and the torch is resin with cast-iron detailing around the flame. The statue is painted green and is intentionally distressed to look weathered. It has some minor staining and cracking to the crown.

Both production designs are rendered in pencil and ink and drawn by model art director John Fenner. One depicts the torch, is attributed to the Little Shop of Horrors production, and is dated "15 Oct 85". The other depicts the statue in its entirety, is attributed to Superman IV, and is dated "19 Sept 86". The designs are rolled for storage and have some minor staining and wear to the edges. Dimensions (statue): 48 cm x 65 cm x 189 cm (19" x 25 1/2" x 74 1/2")
