THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1973) - Ray Harryhausen Hand-drawn Concept Drawing of the Neanderthal Man and the Cyclopean Centaur

A framed Ray Harryhausen hand-drawn concept drawing of the Neanderthal Man fighting the Cyclopean Centaur from the production of Gordon Hessler's fantasy film The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.

This artwork is rendered in pencil on white drawing paper. It depicts a prehistoric man, club raised, with his other hand around the throat of the boulder-wielding mythical beast, with Sinbad (John Phillip Law) and Margiana (Caroline Munro) looking on. A standard Cyclops was initially envisioned but looked too much like "a man in a suit." This prompted the development of a more creative Cyclopean Centaur. The final key art version of this image featured on page 178 of The Art of Ray Harryhausen by Ray Harryhausen and Tony Dalton. The artwork comes presented in a card mount and a black wooden frame. Dimensions: (framed) 48.5 cm x 64.5 cm x 1.5 cm (19" x 25 1/2" x 3/4")
