A collection of Ralph McQuarrie hand-coloured and printed crew patch artwork, title artwork and patches from the production of Irvin Kershner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

The crew-issued "Vader in Flames" patch was designed by conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie and used extensively on jackets worn by the Norwegian filming unit.

This lot includes a "Vader in Flames" crew patch, a black rectangular Empire Strikes Back logo patch and two hand-coloured prototype crew patch designs rendered in a mix of pencils and pens. One hand-coloured artwork has been made from two pieces of card, layered and glued together, whilst the other has been hand-labelled "B" in black pen. Accompanying these are six sheets of printed prototype patch designs and a sheet of card featuring a printed title artwork on one side and a hand-drawn patch layout labelled "A" on the other. Dimensions: (crew patch) 13 cm x 8.5 cm (5" x 3 1/4"); (title artwork) 32 cm x 22 cm (12 1/2" x 8 1/4")
