Lot 1563: Two Jaw Sections from Mosasaur
Fossils and Related
Two Jaw Sections from a 100 Million Year Old Mosasaur with 9, 1 inch Long Teeth.
Mosasaurs were the top predators of the cretacious seas, 100 million years ago. They could eat sharks for breakfast. These large marine reptiles grew to over 60 feet in length. The two jaw sections of this museum quality fossil, are from the species Mosasaurus found in the Sahara desertof Morocco. The color contrast is near perfect with light bone, brown sandstone matrix and darker brown teeth. Mosasaur teeth are sometimes found alone, but rarely still attached in the jaw. The 9, 1 inch teeth are still sharp with excellent enamel. This is a most impressive fossil from the T-Rex of the cretacious ocean.
