GILLIGAN'S ISLAND (1964 - 1967) - S.S. Minnow Life Preserver Ring and Alan Hale's Desk Nameplate

An S.S. Minnow life preserver ring and Alan Hale's desk nameplate from the TV series Gilligan's Island. Titular first mate Gilligan (Bob Denver), Captain Jonas "Skipper" Grumby (Hale), and five passengers found themselves marooned on an uncharted island after a storm shipwrecked the S.S. Minnow.

Gilligan's Island was very well-received throughout its original run but gained a massive following during syndication. Its characters, including the Skipper, are considered some of the most iconic in television history.

This lot originated from the family of Alan Hale. It consists of a canvas-wrapped life preserver ring painted light grey with black lettering reading "S.S. Minnow," rope around the sides, and red and blue rings painted on the reverse side, as well as a wooden nameplate from Hale's desk featuring a black plaque with gold-colour embellishments reading "Alan 'Skipper' Hale," green felt feet, and a Champion Trophy Co. label on the bottom. Also included is a Letter of Authenticity from Alan Hale's son, Chris Hale. The ring's paint exhibits discolouration and chipping, while the nameplate exhibits scuffs and chips throughout the finish. Dimensions: (largest) 62.25 cm x 62.25 cm x 9 cm (24.5" x 24.5" x 3.5")
