THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1994) - Production-made Portland Daily Bugle Newspaper Cover, Envelope, and Postcard

A Portland Daily Bugle newspaper cover, envelope, and postcard from the production of Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption. Warden Norton (Bob Gunton) read a news story about corruption at Shawshank after Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) escaped from the prison, Dufresne helped Tommy Williams (Gil Bellows) try and earn his GED from the Board of Education, and prisoners received letters and postcards at the prison.

The black-and-white Portland Daily Bugle newspaper cover was made for production but ultimately unseen onscreen. It is dated "Monday, August 1966" with a photograph of an orchestra and several unrelated headlines, including "'Flying Saucers' Photo Released by Coastguard," printed throughout. The interior and back pages feature additional filler text and advertisements. The yellow paper envelope is addressed to Mr. Thomas Williams at his Shawshank Prison address and features a stamped Board of Education return address and Augusta postage dated 05 June 1966. Also included is a postcard to "Jr. Achiever" from "Louise" featuring a black and white photograph of a woman labelled "Minerva Gil." The newspaper cover exhibits some wear along the folds, and the envelope and postcard exhibit staining along the edges. Dimensions: (largest) 34.5 cm x 28 cm (13.5" x 11")
