c. 1882, Cabinet Card of Jesse JamesÕ Corpse, by James W. Graham, Alex Lord Studio, Fine.
6.5' x 4.25' card with sepia-toned image of the famous train-robberÕs corpse. Caption at bottom reads: 'JESSE JAMES/ Killed in St. Joseph, Missouri, April 3, 1882.' Verso has hand-written notes on JamesÕ death--including info. on where he last lived, where he was buried, physical attributes, location of burial and tombstone inscription, and much more. The large cabinet image is somewhat faded, depicting the bearded James roped to a cloth-covered board. Three-quarter shot, from head to below his waist, minor toning and soiling, and four pinholes along upper edge of the card and image. A powerful, grim memento of the 'wild, wild West'!
