August 22, 1840, 'THE LOG CABIN,' Published by H. Greeley & Co., New York, Very Good.
21.5' x 15.75', Vo1. 1, No. 17, 5-column layout, 4 pages. Nice woodcut in masthead of a log cabin scene with a striped flag proclaiming: 'HARRISON & TYLER.' Dampstaining to pages, tear in the margin of the back page, and general age-toning. Front page account of a speech by 'Mr. Proffit of Indiana,' who was speaking to Congress about an appropriation bill, and blasting the current administration. Excellent 'campaign paper' touting the virtues of the Harrison/Tyler presidential ticket; terrific woodcuts on inside page, short music sheet on back page, 'The Hero of the West,' and plenty of politics, edited by Horace Greeley.
