TV COMMERCIAL - Jim Henson's "Australian Dunny Spider'' Puppet

A Jim Henson "Australian Dunny Spider" puppet from a British TV commercial for Carling Black Label lager. A British traveller visited an Australian pub and, to the surprise of its regulars, successfully used the toilet ("dunny") despite the presence of a scary arachnid.

This puppet spider was created by the Jim Henson creature shop and is made of foam and faux fur, with resin teeth and eyes cast around a metal-and-plastic internal mechanism. Four handles with finger pulleys are connected to the puppet's mechanical interior via long cables. Each handle features a label noting which part of the spider it controls, such as "Head" and "Eye Balls". Some movements no longer function due to broken cables and missing finger pulleys.

Also included is a plastic bag of fur leg parts and spider feet, which have separated from the puppet. Due to age, the spider exhibits significant deterioration and crumbling of its foam body and legs. Dimensions (cables extended): 231 cm x 64 cm x 20.5 cm (100" x 25 1/4" x 8")

Estimate: GBP 1000 - 2000 M
