[WILLIAM McKINLEY].
Stereoview of the President Returning Salutes at River Parade, bearing stamp and copyright of Underwood & Underwood, 1901. 7" by 3 1/2". With the printed legend, "President McKinley returning the salutes of the passing boats - River Parade, New Orleans, La." Some almost indistinguishable discoloration shadows the upper sky portion of view, otherwise Very Fine. An unusually informal shot of the President in May, 1901, as he inaugurated his second term with a great swing around the country. The tour began in the South, went to San Francisco, headed back across the Northwest , and concluded at the Pan-Pacific Exposition in Buffalo - where an anarchist, Leon Czolgosz, waited fatefully with a gun.
