FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (1971) - Production Clapperboard

A clapperboard from the production of Norman Jewison's multi-Oscar& reg;-winning period musical Fiddler on the Roof. Designed especially for the movie, this unique lot was provided by the film's clapper loader Tony Woodcock (uncredited).

The clapperboard features a metal hinge and a wooden clapper and slate, its contents applied in white stencil. The slate features the movie title, with the names of director Jewison and director of photography Oswald Morris. White adhesive tape displays the shoot day as 14.02.71. Several lower sliders reveal further information, including "Night", "Mute", "Sound" and "Track". Four pages of technical notes are taped to the back of the clapperboard.

The lot includes a hinged wooden bottom flap used to assist the music editor. This features "PB", which stands for playback, and "SM", which stands for start mark. The clapperboard exhibits signs of wear commensurate with its age, including inflexible sliders, paint erosion, scuffs and divots. Dimensions: 35.5 cm x 28.5 cm x 4.5 cm (14" x 11 1/4" x 1 3/4")
