Lot 130: Harry A. Hatch Signed Letter
Autographs
HARRY A. HATCH, American Novelty Entrepreneur.
Autograph Letter Signed, 'Harry A. Hatch,' on fine white paper, February 27, 1922, Newark, NJ, 11' x 8.5', Extremely Fine. Being a letter of introduction proffering gambling and novelty items that could no longer be advertised. Paper is in excellent condition and HatchÕs signature is 3' in length, very firm, in dark ink. Addressed to Mr. A.B. Held of Waukegan, Illinois, Hatch provides discounted pricing for perfect, sharp- cornered, and round-cornered 'Squared Up Dice.' 'HallÕs Novelty Shop' is stamped in the upper right corner along with a return address. His personal letter to Mr. Held was apparently the next best way to inform customers of available merchandise: 'You will notice if you read the ÔPolice Gazette,Õ that ÔDice AddsÕ [sic] are discontinued starting with this week. Having had notice of this, I am taking this means of reaching possible customers and interesting them in my goods...' Wonderful gambling related content, written in the personal hand of none other than Harry Hatch.
