JAMES BOND: THUNDERBALL (1965) - Peter Nelson Collection: US Navy Spear Gun and Explosive Spear Heads

A US Navy spear gun and explosive spear heads from Terence Young's Bond film Thunderball. Members of the US Navy wielded spear guns throughout the underwater battle against Largo's (Adolfo Celi) crew.

This aluminium spear gun comprises a removable spear and a blue cylindrical gas chamber. It shows some red paint residue, indicating it had a red finish for filming, which has since worn away. The gas chamber has been emptied, and the trigger mechanism deactivated. Accompanying the lot are two wooden explosive spear heads, which are hand-painted red and white with silver-coloured tips. Although unseen in the film, these come with a laminated photograph of Q (Desmond Llewlyn) holding them. The lot exhibits scuffs, rust and dents from production use. Dimensions (spear gun): 97 cm x 14 cm x 5 cm (38 1/4" x 5 1/2" x 2")

From the personal collection of Peter Nelson, previously displayed at his two museums, "The Cars of the Stars" and "The Bond Museum" in Keswick, Cumbria, until they closed in 2011.

Contains mechanical components; see mechanical notice in the Buyer's Guide.

Estimate: GBP 1500 - 3000 M
