(1795) Silver 'Harvard Hasty Pudding Club' Medal, About Uncirculated.
Sallay 3, Storer 918. Octagonal silver medal of the Hasty Pudding Club (simply abbreviated as H.P.C. on the medal), 40 mm. in diameter, bright and untoned, hairlined from an old cleaning. Looped at the top as always. The Hasty Pudding Club issued several medals over the years, of which this is perhaps the most famous. The 1795 date was apocryphal -- this one was issued in 1883 to Charles Hayden Kip (whose name, and the date, have been engraved in the wreath on the obverse). Kip is actually a famous athlete -- he became the first world record holder in discus in Cambridge, MA on May 22, 1882 -- a record that held for 10 years!
