EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990) - Edward Scissorhands' (Johnny Depp) Scissor Hand Set with Screen-Matched Retractable Blades - Edward Scissorhands' (Johnny Depp) scissor hand set with screen-matched retractable blades from Tim Burton's fantasy romance Edward Scissorhands. Created by a visionary inventor (Vincent Price), Edward used his iconic bladed hands throughout the film, including to woo Kim (Winona Ryder), the girl he loved. Surviving examples of retractable blades are rare, and the mechanical details of the particular retractable blades in this lot screen-match to the SFX close-up insert of Edward stabbing Jim (Anthony Michael Hall) in their climactic confrontation.

This incomplete set was assembled from original production components. The right hand consists of two metal and resin retractable SFX stabbing blades with urethane handles painted black and red, as well as resin thumb and pinky blades painted silver-color. The left hand consists of four urethane blades and one resin blade with a serrated metal edge applied throughout with foil and painted red, black, and silver.

The bladed fingers and copper- and silver-color rubber hand-backs are mounted to display hands reinforced with wire, painted black at the wrists, stuffed with foam for structure, and dressed with black velour gloves. The blades exhibit notable points of chipping paint, pieces loosening, and the index and middle finger blades of the left hand utilize right-hand style blades. Dimensions: 21" x 9" x 5" (53.5 cm x 23 cm x 12.75 cm)
