Maps
1751 Map of the Globe Based on Anson’s Travels

1751, 35 Engraved Maps and Plates in “VOYAGE AUTOUR DU MONDE, FAIT DAN LES ANNE’ES MDCCXL, I, II, III, IV... DANS LA MER DU SUD... NOUVELLE EDITION," by George Anson, Amsterdam and Leipzig, Printed by Arkstee & Merkus, Choice Near Mint.
9.5" x 8" hardbound book, contemporary half-calf, extremities very worn, neatly rebacked with the original lettering piece retained, 330 pages, scattered minor foxing and soiling. Early owner’s signature on the title and several text leaves. Sabin 1637. There are several beautiful, uncolored engraved maps and plates, most which fold out, written in French. Close attention should be paid to the large fold-out map of the globe, by M.N. Bellin, which has a few tears along the folds, but is very clean and crisp.
