Fine and Important 5 piece silver tea/coffee service. Made in New York City circa 1855 by Eoff & Shepard and hallmarked "E & S" within a rectangle. Also marked with the retailers name "Ball, Black & Co" along with "N. York". The impressive and intricate shell and flower decoration is in high relief and covers almost the entire object. The handles and spouts are designed as tree branches encircled with vines and flowers. The rims and cartouches are designed as shells. Each finial is a separately cast flower blossom. The openwork feet are designed as branches with leaves and flowers. The entire background is tooled as the skin on a melon. The insulators on the coffee and tea pots are ivory. The hinge pin on the oversized sugar bowl lid has been replaced and there are a few minor dents in the bottom of the waste bowl otherwise the set is perfect. This very substantial tea/coffee set weighs an incredible 145 t oz total weight.
