<b>Security Printing History</b><hr><b>'The American Bond Detector and Compete History of all the United States Government Securities.', Extremely Fine.</b>
Published in 1869 by the American Bond and Currency Detector Company, this is an oblong quarto reference work that was essential to bankers and government officials of the period, both here and abroad. It includes 22 color and black white plates of proof bonds on card along with related details. There are nine plates of coins in circulation from the U.S. and foreign countries, using metallic tints and framed on red card. The plate sections are within 100 pages of texts. The covers are original three quarter leather on green cloth boards with gil stamping. Fully complete, the spine is loose and there is minor separations. Quite sound and some minor reinforcing work will enhance considerably. Some dust scuffing on the coin plates at the back, but the bond plates are very sharp. The first we have sold in of our sales. In the past decade, we have only seen a half a dozen or so offered in auctions. Essential to the study of security printing history and a fine item to add to any financial related collection.
