PRF-R7. This firm was an early firm in Phialdelphia that did work for only a short time from about 1817 to 1821. The most well known notes they did were for the Frankfort Bank in Kentucky. This ad for their work has a superior vignette at the top center. The lettering in the scroll is quite fine, 'Speramus Placere', and the grill work at each end is superb. As engravers, they appear to have not been pressmen as it is printed by Rogers & Estler. We have seen very few of these in twenty years of experience. This example is toned overall, but still choice and very important.
