CHARLIE CHAPLIN - Charlie Chaplin's Cane

One of silent film legend Charlie Chaplin's personal canes. A pioneer in black-and-white cinema, Chaplin famously carried his bamboo cane while portraying the Tramp, his most enduring and iconic character, throughout his career.

Chaplin's half-brother and business manager, Sydney Chaplin, gifted this notched bamboo cane to Charlie Gilbert, the first cousin of Minnie Chaplin (Sydney's wife), as thanks for hosting their family at the Piccadilly Hotel during a film shoot. It features a metal ferrule and a gold-colour ring near the top engraved "With best wishes to Charlie Gilbert from Sydney Chaplin Film Co. Los Angeles Cal." The cane exhibits some wear from age, including cracking around the handle. Dimensions: 14 cm x 2.75 cm x 92.75 cm (5.5" x 1" x 36.5")
