Lot 0915 1921 Alabama 50C, No 2 x 2 PCGS MS66
A highly lustrous gem of this early Type with a nuance rolling luster throughout the fields, throughout the devices, and on both sides, all of which is underpinned by full satin freshness. Struck from typically-detailed dies that imported a nice texture, especially in the fields.

The obverse depicts two governors of Alabama, Bibb and Kilby, one the governor in 1819 and the other the governor in 1919, the latter year being the actual centennial. The year on this coin doesn't follow inasmuch as the centennial is observed and was the reason for its issuance, per a description on the reverse, was for 1919, but it was not struck until 1921 -- a date with no significance.
