Lot 0744 1921-D Mercury 10C PCGS MS65
Dancing cartwheel luster careens off the satiny, matte-like surfaces of this attractively toned gem Mercury dime. A blend of shades can be seen on both sides. The strike isn't the usual somewhat spongy look of others but instead is crisply detailed with only slight weakness in the reverse cross bands. The 1921-D (1 million pieces produced) is similar in rarity to the 1921 (1.2 million pieces produced) in most grades. At the upper reaches of Mint State preservation like the present Gem, however, the edge goes to this Denver branch mint issue.
