A radiant gem of the kind of quality one likes to describe for bidders of this actively collected $20 gold design. Careening cartwheel luster blends easily with pale golden highlights on the frosted surfaces.

President Theodore Roosevelt felt that the motto IN GOD WE TRUST had no place on our coinage. Perhaps he had a personal reason to object, or was merely following the ideals of separation of church and state. Whatever his reason, his objections were appropriately voiced within the Mint. This design is Charles Barber's further modification of the Saint-Gaudens design, prepared for ease of minting and use in commerce after the troublesome high relief coins were found impractical for high speed coinage on modern coining presses.
