Magnificent hand-painted, four-footed covered vase that is superbly executed by the renowned "Charles Gabriel Lemonnier" (1743-1824, French). Mark impressed on bottom seems to be "L&Co". French country scene is painted all around body. Features a woodland interior with flowers, water, and yellow, black and red butterfly. Very, very nice condition.18.5" t x 10.5" w x 6.5" d.

Lemonnier was awarded the Prize of Rome in 1772, was accepted at the Academy in Paris in 1785 as an instructor, and he supervised the world-famous Gobelief Tapestry Factory from 1810-1816. Lemonnier's work is exhibited in the Paris Faculty of Medicine Museum and Oldenbourg, and other fine museums. His work graces the world's finest collections.
