Ninger Chen (b.1942) Oil painting on canvas of pastoral landscape with three figures on horseback. The scene shows a child riding a pony between a woman riding side saddle and a man in bowler hat. Each formally dressed. The horses are of a slow gallop along a dirt rode and beneath a flowering cherry tree. Signed lower left and dated "1993". This painting has been removed from the wall of one of the three large, first floor parlors of the mansion. It is unframed and remains in excellent condition. 63.75"w x 59.5"t. Est. $5,000 - $7,000.

This large and magnificent painting was commissioned several years ago for the owners of the Overlook Mansion. This work depicts a scene which reflects the natural beauty of the area surrounding Little Falls, N.Y. Each of the 6 paintings is executed in bright, pleasant color with the composition of subject depth perception and proportions, you would expect from a truly great artist. The artist included figures in these paintings. The men, women and children are dressed in late Victorian costume and are seemingly captured for a moment by the artist as they go about their daily activities.
