?Looking Through the Brush? is a wonderful example of K. Maroon?s realistic style that breathes life into the young stag that is gazing fixedly at the viewer. This extraordinary lithograph, dated from 1978, is so clear that it almost could be mistaken for the original pastel drawing. The drawing had been done on a beige toned paper, allowing for this color to show through very effectively in areas. The textures that are created through the application of the medium is amazing, blending together exquisitely in a warm color palette of browns. The hints of blue sky beyond the fall foliage balance out the work beautifully. It is apparent that autumn is in full swing, perhaps even approaching winter, with the bare branches that intermingle with the stag and its antlers. Since this is the case, then hunting season is also underway. This wonderful rendering misses nothing, from the soft fur to the rough branches, the details are amazing. This stunning piece has been framed in a gorgeous, medium, oak wood that complements the tones in the piece as well as its wilderness feel. Including this exceptional frame in its dimensions, this piece measures 20 ½? x 24 ½? in totality. The signature and date are clearly seen on the print in the lower right hand corner. This terrific work of art is of an exceptional value and perfect for any wildlife enthusiast.
