Long John Baldry Autograph
Long John Baldry Autograph - John William "Long John" Baldry (January 12 1941 – July 21, 2005) was one of the great innovators of the British Sound Explosion in the early 1960's. He recorded the first British blues album in 1962, and his voice and unique American-Blues sound influenced many of the superstars that followed. He sang with and influenced many music greats including Rod Stewart and Elton John who appeared in bands led by Baldry in the 1960s. Mick Jagger, Jack Bruce and Charlie Watts were once members of his band and Keith Richards and Brian Jones played with them as well, before the formation of the "Rolling Stones". When the Stones made their debut at the Marquee Club in July 1962, Baldry put together a group of musicians to support them. Later, Baldry was the announcer introducing the Stones on their US-only live album, "Got Live If You Want It!". His groundbreaking "Let The Heartaches Begin" reached No. 1 in 1967. He is also well known for his duet with Kathi McDonald with the smash hit "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'". Besides being one of the great blues singers, he was also a very sought after voice actor, perhaps best known for his role as Dr. Robotnik in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog". This is an extremely rare very early autograph of Long John Baldry, obtained by passionate rock fan Teresa Doherty, who collected autographs of some of the greatest legends of rock and show biz in her teens. Doherty went on to become one of the biggest Music Public Relations Executives in the business. This hard to find autograph is inscribed "To Terri - All my love - Long John". The autograph comes with a detailed Letter of Provenience from Teresa Doherty herself. Autograph page is 4.5"x4".
