Politician (1933–1975) who served as prime minister of the Khmer Republic from 1973 to 1975. He unsuccessfully attempted to negotiate a peace settlement with the Khmer Rouge during the Cambodian Civil War, and was arrested and executed by them shortly thereafter. Matte-finish 3.5 x 5.5 photo of Long Boret in a suit and tie, signed and inscribed in blue ink, “Dear M. Peter Kohr Jr., with my sincere friendship, Phnom Penh, 28 March 1974, Long Boret, Prime Minister, Khmer Republic.” In very good condition, with a significant crease to the lower left and a paperclip mark and impression to the top. An extremely rare portrait of one of the tragic figures caught up in the conflict.
