S/N 1340-LW. Colt Lightweight Commander 1911, manufactured in 1950, the second year of production for the Lightweight Commander model. It is unfired presentation quality, having been period commissioned to celebrate the retirement of Texas Ranger Captain Manuel T. "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas on July 31, 1951. The left side of the slide is engraved with the date "1920", the year he joined the Texas Rangers and "1951", the year he retired from Ranger service. It also bears the engraving "El Solo Lobo", Spanish for Lone Wolf. The rear of the slide also bears the Texas State image. The right side of the slide bears his name "Captain Manuel T. Gonzaullas" and has a Christian cross passing through it, a testament to his deep religious convictions, and a Texas Rangers Star on the slide rear. The grips are made from pristine elephant ivory. The right grip has scroll work and the Colt rampant horse carved in the center. The trigger guard has been "bobbed" for quick access as was his manner. The left grip has scroll work and the initials "MTG", which was his brand. Comes with wood presentation case. provenance signed & notarized letter from Robert D. Moser.
