Sterling silver antique dresser set of 6 pieces, 1916, signed Vickery of London. this antique vanity dresser set was a gift of Edward Curtis Smith (Governor of Vermont 1898-1900) to his wife Anna James Smith and engraved with her initials. This family is one of the most important in the political and industrial history of Vermont, owning extensive lumber, mining and railroad interests crossing the continent (Vermont Central Railroad, Vermont and Canada Railroad, and Northern Pacific Railroad). Also including several gubernatorial terms held by E. C. and his father before him. This set came from the family estate years ago and has been in storage ever since. Hand mirror is 10.5 in. L. * 2 natural bristle brushes, perfect * 2 lint or shoe brushes, l teeny ding * shoehorn, perfect * mirror glass has slight deterioration on beveled rim near handle, and silver has slight ding on back edge at 10:00 position. Overall condition is very good for a set nearing its 100th birthday and its quality is superb.
