London Brighton & South Coast Railway brass CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE lettered "London Brighton & South Coast Railway 82". This rare plate was carried by the Stroudley Terrier Class A1 0-6-0T "BOXHILL" built at Brighton in August 1880. It went on to the Duplicate List in November 1911 as No. 682, then to the Locomotive Department at Brighton in February 1920, and was renumbered 380S in June 1932. Brighton Works shunter since 1909 it was withdrawn in 1946, and went to Clapham Transport Museum in 1947. It was restored in LBSCR livery and eventually went on display in January 1961. It is now at the NRM York, carrying replica plates. Oval, 171/4"x111/4", face-restored only. Very special.
