A superb and rare Lladro porcelain sculpture titled Sea Birds (Somormujos), modeled by Antonio Ballester circa 1972. This limited edition masterpiece depicts a pair of elegant great crested grebes amidst reeds, tending to their nest with delicately painted speckled eggs. Richly hand-painted with remarkable naturalistic detail, the work captures both the grace of the birds and the artistry of Lladro's master sculptors. The underside carries the Lladro backstamp and is signed by A. Ballester and decorator Amparo Mafe.
