This rare Lladro porcelain figurine, model number 01005023, titled Painful Kangaroo (Canguro Doliente), depicts a kangaroo with a bandaged tail, accompanied by a joey peeking out from its pouch. Sculpted by Juan Huerta, it was issued in 1978 and retired in 1981, making it available for only a brief period. The piece is part of Lladro's exclusive "Painful Animals" series, which includes six figurines: Monkey, Kangaroo, Polar Bear, Elephant, Giraffe, and Lion. Each figurine in this series portrays an animal in a humorous, anthropomorphic pose, eliciting empathy and charm. The figurine stands approximately 6.5 inches tall and features a glazed finish. The base bears the traditional Lladro blue tulip backstamp.
