Born in Paris on Sept 30, 1840 Jehan George Vibert maternal grandfather was the clebrated French engraver Jazet and his paternal grandfather was Jean Pierre Vibert the famous botanist. Greatness ran in his family. Vibert is known for his cynical wit and great technical ability. He invented a special red paint- "VIBERT RED 3" for he closeness in reality to Cardinals robes. He was the founder of the famous Society of French Watercolorist in 1878. It is believed that Norman Rockwell followed in his footsteps for capturing the private comedies of human weakness.
